Each year, a spirited group of boaters gathers for what are essentially two distinct events on the upper Potomac River: The Holiday Boat Parade of Lights! This year, the parade will take place on December 7th at both the Alexandria Waterfront and the DC Wharf. Since these are truly two separate events, Iāll break them down into two sections:
š Alexandria Waterfront
The festivities kick off at 2 PM, featuring hands-on activities and a variety of food and beverage options at Waterfront Park, along with a holiday festival at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Santa will make a grand entrance for the kids aboard a fireboat at 3:30 PM, and the boat parade begins at 5:30 PM. The celebration runs until 8 PM. Find more details here!
š DC Wharf
The festivities begin at 5 PM on the waterfront, featuring the Corona Cheer Garden, sāmores, ornament decorating, live music from DC bands, visits with Santa, and more! Last year, Jack Daniels made an appearance with their iconic Christmas tree crafted from whiskey barrels and delicious drinksāweāre hoping for their return this year. The boats will arrive at 7 PM, followed by an incredible fireworks display at 8 PM. Find all the event details here!
Donāt miss the chance to see these beautifully decorated boats and experience this unforgettable celebration!
